Nancy Carter spent 30 years working in the entertainment industry as a talent agent for African-Americans. In 2003, after a loved one was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, Ms. Carter left the entertainment industry to devote her life to mental health advocacy and started the Urban Los Angeles Chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Now a nationally renowned keynote speaker, Ms. Carter has addressed the American Psychiatric Association, The American Psychological Association and SAMSHA. Ms. Carter devotes her time to private advocacy and consulting with individuals and families on best practices for navigating mental health care.
