Danny L.’s Story

Danny L.

Navy Veteran Daniel L. began working in Step Up’s Vocational Training Program in September 2010. With his excellent job performance, Daniel soon earned a permanent part-time Janitorial position, where he often fills in as a shift leader for the Vocational Team. “I’m thankful that I can work at Step Up in this capacity”, says Daniel L. “And my position gives me the ability to buy extra things to enhance my life”.

Originally highlighted in the May 2015 issue of Impact!, Daniel L. has become an invaluable part of the Vocational team. “We knew Daniel would be a perfect fit for Building 209 janitorial for Step Up. Daniel is a Veteran, too,” remarked Frank Hendricks, Operations Manager for the Vocational team. Bldg. 209 is the new home for 54 formerly homeless Veterans. “He handles all the janitorial duties in the building without daily supervision,” added Hendricks. A huge Dodgers fan, Daniel was able to attend his first Dodgers game earlier this year with the help of the Step Up Tenants Action Committee (TAC). Step Up is proud and grateful to have Navy Veteran Daniel L. on board.
