Great interview, Les. Thanks again for all you do for Step Up and its members. Your upcoming volunteer of the year award has certainly been earned.

It was such a great honor to be standing onstage next to President Clinton, hearing him talk about the important work of Step Up on Second in our initiative to address homelessness for those with a mental illness in Hollywood. Our initiative, to create 200 units of permanent supportive housing in green, sustainable buildings, was especially selected as one to be presented on stage by President Clinton himself. There were some 100 initiatives, or Commitments to Action as they are called in CGI, adopted at the CGI annual meeting but only twelve of the hundred were recognized onstage. Wow!

We have so many wonderful partners and three key partners were able to join us onstage including Steve Bing with Shrangli-La Industries, Deb DeSantis with the Corporation for Supportive Housing and Philip Mangano with the American Roundtable to Abolish Homelessness.

Step Up was one of the few domestic initiatives at CGI this year and likely the only one addressing homelessness through LEED-certified designs. CGI was an amazing opportunity to interact with world leaders, recognized business leaders and other nonprofit organizations from throughout the world who are highly committed to taking action on the most pressing global issues.
